What is CrossFit?
Functional Fitness: CrossFit prepares you for any physical contingency. Workouts are constantly varied, and incorporate weightlifting, gymnastics, running, and more.
Guided by a Coach: CrossFit meets you where you’re at. Your coach will adjust the workouts to be appropriately challenging for you. As you learn what you’re able to do now, you’ll be rewarded with a new challenge to pursue next.
Fueled by Community: CrossFit gyms are not cookie-cutter franchises, but instead dynamic and varied independent businesses that bring the CrossFit methodology to their local community.

Do I need to be in shape to start CrossFit?

What about nutrition?

By avoiding excessive amounts of refined carbohydrates and measuring your intake of protein, carbohydrates and fat, you will see dramatic, measurable increases in health. Learn More About Nutrition.

How will CrossFit affect my health?
CrossFit holds a uniquely elegant solution to the greatest problem facing the world today: chronic disease. The CrossFit program—constantly varied high-intensity functional movement coupled with meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch, and no sugar—can give you a pass on chronic disease. If you are not sick, know that fitness provides a great margin of protection against the ravages of time and disease. Fitness is and should be “super-wellness.” To improve or preserve your health, do CrossFit.

Here at CrossFit Thin Air we have a "Zoom Out" approach. Our goal is that you can be fit and healthy for the rest of your life with a focus on long-term wellness to continue to do the things you love the most.
07
What if I can't do something listed in the workout?
All CrossFit workouts can be modified for people of any age and ability. Adjusting a workout for a specific person is called “scaling,” and it allows very experienced athletes and beginners to train side by side. A skilled CrossFit trainer can quickly adjust each workout to reflect your needs, goals, and current abilities.

How do I find a good CrossFit gym?
There are at lot of different CrossFit gyms out there. When choosing a gym to be a part of, or when visiting one while on vacation, we recommend looking at the experience and credentials of coaches, programming of workouts, and overall community of the gym. You can visit the CrossFit Affiliate Map to view different gyms in your area, click on each gym to see their locations and coaching credentials. If you're still not sure which gym is a good fit, you can usually drop in at a gym to experience the environment and get to know the coaches more.

At CrossFit Thin Air our coaches hold the Level 4 Certified Coach credential (highest level credential in CrossFit) and Level 2 Trainer certificate. We know the power of community and see the value in holding regular community events to have fun outside of the gym too.
